Global 24

A New Dimension of Communication

World Premiere on July 1, 1997
in Frankfurt am Main

On July 1, 1997, Frankfurt am Main hosted a groundbreaking milestone in communication history: Global 24 – A New Dimension of Communication. Conceived and executed under the visionary direction of Maleki, it marked the first worldwide video conference ever held, dedicated to the topic of the European Monetary Union.

Within just 24 hours, a complete stage setup was realized, and a global technical network was established. Over 100 technicians worked around the clock to install international connections that made live interaction between Frankfurt, Brussels, Milan, London, New York, Washington, and Tokyo possible.

Spanning three time zones, the event brought together more than 3,000 participants worldwide in real time — an unprecedented achievement at the time. The international press reported live, as this visionary project set a new benchmark in global communication and defined what was then truly state of the art.
